I love this idea because it involves intrinsic motivation and inspiration coupled with a desire to affect the world for good in a way that is not ego-centric. This is the antidote to a wealth of social ills. We need it to build a healthier society.

Not only the human estate but also nature - the planet is a ball of suffering. The solutions are by the most part either draconian or incremental with little or no grasp on the underlying problem. Which is not hunger, not cruelty, not perversion, not tyranny, not deception, not poverty and so on. These are but symptoms of something being not right... Figure out what the not right is, cure that and then the symptoms of the disease can easily be tackled for they will not reappear.. Cruelty will have been cured, cut off at its root.. What then is the root cause of cruelty? Whether it be a man gas-lighting his wife , a wife wreaking knowing havoc on her family, a landlord starving his tenants and the list if extended will rapidly get us into vile territory.. There's little deliberate cruelty in nature - a Lion stalking and antelope has to eat.. That is not cruelty. A man shooting a Giraffe for sport is utterly cruel in the extreme.. For he or she is a nothing human, a mini tyrant with a gun.. How then is it possible to eradicate or exorcise what causes cruelty from the human species? To devote oneself to finding out and implementing the cure without consideration of self would be true charity.. The rest, an ineffectual drop in the ocean, little more that a reciprocal exchange of balances on the rocker bar of good and evil.. (Ends part one of a necessary encyclopaedia on the matter)
